History of the Office

  • 1961 shifted from Karachi to Jauharabad
  • 1968 shifted to Rawalpindi with camp office at Jauharabad
  • 1972 shifted to Islamabad, camp office Rawalpindi
  • 1984 present site
  • 1977 began construction of colony for employees, 250 flates completed out of 500

Computerization

  • Computerization of payroll first started in 1969
  • Initiated through a presidential order through the then modernization and mechanization wing of the Cabinet Division
  • Work under taken through UBL at Rawalpindi
  • Accounts computerized in 1983. The work was transferred from UBL to Pakistan Computer Bureau located in Islamabad.
  • In-house processing was started in 1995, system called 'legacy'
  • Processing through PIFRA/SAP started in 2004, concurrently with legacy for initial few months
